The City of Woonsocket is seeking applicants for Seasonal employment in the Department of Public Works.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.  A driver’s license is not required, but preferred.

Interested applicants may either apply online by visiting the “Employment” section of the City’s website at, or in person in the Personnel Division, City Hall, 169 Main Street.  Business hours at the Personnel Division are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

All applications must be received by the close of business on Friday, June 25, 2021.

The work performed will be outdoors as directed by the Public Works Department.  Specifically, the positions entail supervised manual labor for the maintenance of roads, parks and other work as assigned.  These positions will frequently involve heavy lifting and will sometimes be strenuous.  Seasonal employees may be assigned to assist an established Public Works Department employee in performing a designated task.

Pay Rate: $12.00 to $15.00 per hour, depending on experience; 32 to 40 hours per week.

All applicants must complete an application with the title “Seasonal Employment” in the “Position Applied For” field at the top of first page.  Those applicants aged 16 – 17 years old must complete an Intention to Employ Minor" form with the Personnel Division, then attach a completed “Certificate of Age” form from the RI Department of Labor and Training to their application.

Students can end employment as needed to return to school.
