Virtual Eggs & Issues featuring Terry Gray, Department of Environmental Management

Wednesday, January 12, 2022 (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) (EST)

Description

DEM Director Terry Gray will discuss state initiatives to promote the development and adoption of clean technology as part of a strategy to improve air quality and meet Rhode Island’s greenhouse gas emission reduction mandates. Topics that will be covered include the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI), deployment of funding for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and other strategies to promote clean transportation. The Act on Climate, approved by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor McKee in 2021, requires that Rhode Island reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% relative to 1990 levels by 2030. Doing so will require a meaningful reduction in emissions from the transportation sector, which is the single largest sector accounting for around 36% of Rhode Island’s total emissions.

The will be an opportunity for Q & A.
