Topics covered during this training will include the following:The responsibilities of a manager or supervisor to promote a healthy and safe work environment What it means to be "fit for work" Defining "reasonable suspicion" under Rhode Island law How to intervene when there is reasonable suspicion an employee may be "under the influenceThe constructive confrontation with a potentially impaired employee Legal considerations regarding confidentiality\, medical inquiries\, drug testing\, and "last chance" agreementsAccording to the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration\, approximately 70% of all adults with alcohol and/or illicit drug use disorders are gainfully employed. The COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread legalization of marijuana for adult recreational use have only contributed to the problem of employees reporting to work "under the influence."Panelists Gregory Tumolo (Lewis Brisbois) A partner in the Providence office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice.
