Rhode Island FC is the only independently owned and operated men’s professional team in the state. It is led by co-founders Brett Johnson and former MLS and USMNT player Michael Parkhurst, a Rhode Island native. The club will begin play in 2024. To learn more, visit rhodeislandfc.com.
As a key member of the front office, the Human Resources Manager will create the HR department from the ground up.  The role will be a champion of people and a leader in fostering a positive culture. The Human Resources Manager will manage a variety of HR functions including recruitment, talent evaluation, onboarding, team member engagement activities, benefits administration, team member learning and development, and more.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Build the Club’s foundational HR elements, e.g. employee handbook, onboarding process & paperwork, benefits offerings (401K, health, etc.), professional development tools, etc.
  • Responsible for the recruitment workflow – reviewing resumes, screening candidates via phone/virtual meetings, conducting reference checks, coordinating in-person/virtual interviews, etc.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a pipeline of qualified candidates for a variety of positions both current and future.
  • Utilize and maintain a variety of recruiting outlets to maximize position visibility.
  • Build strong relationships with universities, educational institutions, and staffing institutions to attract potential candidates 
  • Manage internship programs and work with department leaders to identify and fulfill staffing needs.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, orientation, and recognition for day game needs.
  • Respond to position and application inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Partner with department leaders to create job descriptions and post approved positions to recruiting platforms.
  • Partner with department leaders to review current staffing needs and assist with developing staffing action plans.
  • Coordinate various team member engagement activities including volunteer opportunities, digital and in-person gatherings, team member events, etc.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding & orientation and other feedback workflows such as introductory check-ins, performance reviews, and similar.
  • Assist with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Support HR administrative tasks including entering new hire data, auditing team member information, and data, maintaining accurate and current team member personnel files, and more. 
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of professional human resources experience in a generalist or similar capacity is required.
  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional experience in recruiting and candidate sourcing is required.
  • Must be a champion of people and drive engagement & culture within organizations.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters and team member information required.
  • Knowledgeable of State and Federal law and compliance requirements.
  • Strong emotional intelligence.
  • Must be people-oriented, highly engaged, and have a focus on providing excellent team member, candidate, and member club experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic are a must.
  • Ability to work as business requires, which may include long days, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.
