
Lead Roasting Specialist
Onsite Lead Roaster for small batch seed roasting with careful attention to the process of delivering the best quality and freshest tasting product.
We are hiring a competent & confident Lead Roasting Specialist to join our growing team at Gerbs Allergy Friendly Foods, Johnston RI 02919 - Office (401) 231-5181.
We are looking for a skilled Roaster to Operate the Excalibur gas oven & four double-stacked electric Blodgett ovens. You’ll ensure the interminable and efficient running of production. A skilled lead roaster is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have the willingness to learn and improve. Quality and quantity is the objective at Gerbs; we aim to have a perfectly dry roasted product from batch to batch, each and every time. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

Responsibilities
Set up roasting machines per raw product (calibration, temperature, timing) to start a production cycle
Control and adjust roasting machine settings as trained (e.g. speed)
Assemble raw ingredients on a daily basis from the storage facility to eliminate wasted time, ability to use pallet jack and fork truck
Inspect raw goods with precision for quality control and measuring tools, as trained
Test operation of roasting machines temperatures periodically
Fix issues that might occur during the shift
Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
Keep records of general production units approved and defective units or final products
Maintain activity logs, ensure case packs are on weight and properly configured on shipping pallets
Skills
Proven experience as a machine operator and/or ovens/roasting equipment
Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
Understanding of production procedures
Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
Analytical skills
Attention to detail
Teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina and strength, boxes/bags weighing between 40-60 Pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
